With two thirds of us in the world today being overweight it is natural that we should be looking for solutions. Most people think that a diet of some sort is the solution as everywhere we are bombarded with temptations to go on one. “Lose 10 pounds in 7 days’ ‘get slim by summer’ or ‘slimmer thighs in 6 minutes a day’ type of thing.
We have been conditioned to believe that the cause of those bulges of fat is that we have been eating too much food. That leads us to believe that all we have to do is eat less and our overweight problem will disappear right?
The fact is – 95 percent of all dieting attempts fail. With such a high failure rate one would question why we still keep on trying them in the hope that something will work. Dieting sucks the very life from you and you feel miserable and denied. How could we think that this is something we could live with long-term? Do we ever say to someone “What diet program are you living with?”
The solution lies with the real cause that we are overweight in the first place. We think of our overweight problem as being an over-fat problem when it is really an under-muscled problem. With our modern day lives that have us sitting for up to 80 percent of our day it is no wonder that our muscles become weak flabby and un-toned.
When this happens our metabolism slows to a crawl and we cannot burn up the food we eat as energy demands are so low. The very last thing we need is another diet as this slows down the metabolic rate even more. The minute you start eating less your body thinks that a famine is upon it and it is going to starve. So it slows the metabolic rate which is the rate the body burns fuel to match the new lowered food intake.
This is the exact same thing that happened to our ancient ancestors when food was in short supply. No problem, the body simply slowed all systems and process down to conserve energy. This is how the human species has survived the hard times.
This base point of calorie intake is different for everyone and you simply do not know when it is going to happen. It can be triggered with as few as 100 calories less than what your body needs and it will flip that switch. Then you can kiss goodbye to losing body fat and say hello to loss of energy, uncontrollable food cravings and depression.
The recipe for a strong, lean, healthy body does not involve any of those negative things. You need your metabolic motor firing on all cylinders like a sports car not a broken down motor scooter. To make this happen first you have to fix the problem at base level – the condition of your muscles and there is only one type of exercise that will do that.
Whether you like it or not what is needed is a program of proper strength training to rebuild and restore and make healthy again your muscular system so the metabolism is boosted to change your fat-storing body into a fat-burning one.
Your only other option is to accept your rolls of fat permanently spoiling your appearance, accelerating the aging process and endangering your health.
But if you make the decision that it is time to ditch the fat get the ball rolling with your strength training program to reverse the process that is happening to you. We each only have one shot at this thing called life and it really is better to live it with energy, strength and vitality that only a slim trim healthier body will pretty much guarantee you.
