Most of us seem to spend a lot of time and effort worrying about many different things. Things like earning enough money to live a good life, being a good spouse or parent and having a happy fulfilling life. But what sense does all that make if our body falls to bits and our health goes down the drain before we achieve our goals?

 

Surely our health and well-being should be put at the top of the priority list as without it nothing else in life matters at all. When you have lost your health no amount of money, houses, cars, careers, castles, lovers or land mean anything. 

 

If you are living your life without a proper structured exercise program in place and eat a diet that contains mainly processed non-foods you are really riding on the edge as far as your health goes. Without proper exercise and good nutrition your body really has no means of keeping itself healthy and disease proofed.

There is no getting past it, sitting around for long periods makes you weak. Unless you continuously use the major muscle groups in your body, they do not strengthen. If you are older, you lose the battle against muscle atrophy or wasting with every year that passes, bones also lose density with a lack of weight-bearing exercise.

Your body responds to the demands you put on it, and if you do not do the right type of exercise, your muscles and bones weaken with time. Just walking up a flight of stairs can make you short of breath if you are out of shape. Lack of exercise can lead to a lack of energy and endurance. The listlessness you feel further dissuades you from engaging in physical activity, and the vicious circle continues. Breaking a long period of inactivity is not easy, particularly if you are overweight or have a medical condition.

 

Exercise and Hormones

Lack of proper exercise can also lead to a diminished sense of well-being. Your body loses muscle tone and strength and your self-esteem can suffer as a result. Weight gain might lead to social isolation and bad eating habits.  Engaging in proper muscle building and maintaining exercise stimulates your body to release endorphins. Endorphins are natural “feel good” chemicals that help elevate your mood and this physical activity benefits your mental health as well as your physical health.

But somehow people think they are getting away with not bothering to eat properly (REAL food not processed) or perform muscle building and maintaining exercise as there are few visible symptoms. But what is happening, is that the most basic law of nature is being ignored – “use it or lose it”.  There may not be visible symptoms….yet…but be assured things are downgrading inside and it really is only a matter of time before something goes wrong.

 

To explain things better, it is only when we undertake regular vigorous muscular movement that the special “growth and repair” hormones are stimulated and released. This is the body’s mechanism for the renewal, repair and replacement of the body’s cells and tissues and exercise is the catalyst that makes this happen.

 

Without this movement your body is programmed to slowly but surely slide down a slippery slope of accelerated aging and disability.

 

Life Style Diseases

It may take some years and you may not notice it to start with,  but it is happening right where it really matters – at cellular level. This process of the downward health spiral that we used to blame on the aging process is really the ongoing damage caused by disuse over a period of time.

That is why they call the diseases that 50 percent of the population has “lifestyle” diseases as they are conditions we give ourselves. From our no-proper exercise lifestyles to our low quality processed foods we are doing damage to our own bodies on a daily basis.

When the wheels do fall off and we get a dreaded diagnosis from our doctor that we have one of any number of modern diseases it is way too late to fix the damage. There is not a doctor, drug or surgical option that can fix the human body once it has reached a broken down state.  Many people say to themselves at this point “If only I had of known” or “I did not want this for myself”.

 

Most of us are not aware that killers like heart disease, cancer and diabetes and dozens of others at best can sometimes be managed by modern medicine but they cannot be cured.  Many people totally turn their life around when they are faced with years (even decades) of pain, suffering and disability followed by an early death.

 

But why wait till then? Why not get stuck in and get started on a proper strength training program so your muscular system can pump some “youth” hormones into your body and rejuvenate it. While you are at it ditch the processed food as well so your exercise program is fully supported and you have some real energy and can put some effort into it.

This is the best medicine of all – preventative – and should be the only one you ever need.
It is really this simple – and so easily within the reach of all of us. Your own life is literally in your hands – you decide how you want it to be.
