You may have heard recently about how the thoughts you think can literally turn into the events you experience, the success you have in your life, the material things you possess…AND even weight loss and the health of your body.

For many years, things like ‘positive thinking’, ‘goal setting’, self-visualization and other Law of Attraction techniques were often thought of as airy fairy ‘new age’ fluff without any substance. But now with recent breakthroughs in neuroscience, greater understanding of mental laws and the close link between the mind and body we know these things all work.

Most of us forget that our mind plays an essential role when it comes to improving our fitness and losing weight. To succeed at anything your head has to be in a good place. Even the best healthy eating plan and exercise program won’t help you to get or stay in good shape if you don’t believe – and keep believing the changes you need to make are worthwhile.

It’s really easy to start a diet or exercise program and very often get some results in the short term. Unfortunately, however up to 95 percent of these same people end up falling off the weight loss and fitness wagon soon after starting. This is because they haven’t prepared mentally for the challenges and changes they are required to make to maintain their new found weight loss or fitness. They end up sabotaging themselves time and time again and going back to the way they were no matter how many diets or exercise programs they begin.

The reason people have so much trouble making things ‘stick’ is they are thinking the wrong thoughts; have the wrong feelings and self-beliefs. You could call it ‘junk thinking’. This is old tired ideas and misinformation about nutrition, dieting, and what proper exercise REALLY means. Mixed in with all this is a dose of plain old self-delusion.

One major mental block to permanent weight loss is wanting too much, too fast. Blame it on our instant-gratification society, with its instant messaging, cell-phones, emails and so on. Weight loss is far too slow to satisfy most dieters, they want immediate results. Even though it has taken them years (maybe decades) to gain the weight they decide to lose it they have no patience and wonder why they fail over and over again.

You will get the best results when you lose weight slowly. Your mind has to get and stay ‘slim’ before your body can follow. When you lose weight too quickly, you are usually losing water or lean tissue, not fat.  When this happens your metabolism slows down making it even harder to lose weight in the future.

Install a new program to lose weight into your mind

To lose weight for the long haul, the ‘upstairs’ bit is the most important bit to get in shape, before you start any diet or exercise program. We now know our brain is literally like a computer waiting for a program to be installed. If we are running negative unfocused programs that we have developed over the years we must overwrite them and install new positive programming into our ‘inner’ subconscious mind as this is from where our actions (or in-actions) are driven.

Once you do this you will then have the mind of a ‘slim’ person. Your weight loss becomes easy and effortless as you will immediately and automatically make better food choices, eat less overall and enjoy exercise. The very things you have not been able to do previously. If you had you would already be doing it or have DONE it. Right?
