In the same way as CEOs act in the interests of their companies, it is our responsibility to care for our body and our health.

Truth be known, we are the proud owners of a family business that we have inherited through our DNA: our body. The decisions we make affect our lifespan and the quality of life we lead. And this is where our exercise and nutrition health program comes into play.

For most of us, stress is a daily menace. Unchecked it can cause a permanent state of inner tension and unease. Mentally, it’s up to each one of us individually to discover what is needed in order to return to the “normal state” (normal being the point where we feel completely in balance, relaxed and happy!”)

The “normal state, where we feel balanced, relaxed and happy” varies from person to person.

Our goal should be to live life in peak health, sidestepping disease conditions that would take us our long before our time. In order to do that, we must take control of our health and if necessary, turn around any unhealthy conditions before they do permanent damage.

This requires us to understand the effects of our day to day decisions in regards to our long-term health and wellness.

Smart business people operate within the framework of intelligent business strategy. They are able to draw on data that has been collected over a period of time in order to access, analyze and make important, informed decisions that optimize their company’s processes.

MONITOR THE DETAILS

It’s this same type of intelligent business strategy that should be used with the care of our body. Although we cannot conduct a detailed process analysis of our bodies, we can monitor our “input” over extended periods of time by recording it in writing.

We must pay attention to, record and keep track of all the signals our body sends when we eat, drink or workout. What exercise we are doing, what we are eating, how long and how well we sleep, what our weight is and our overall feeling over a period of days or a few weeks needs to be recorded.

Knowledge is power and the starting point for making positive changes to our health regime.

The longer you record the details, the more data you’ll have and the more accurate your analysis will be. You’ll discover exactly what is in the foods you eat. Which vitamins, minerals, proteins, and fats do they contain and in what quantities?

The principle of “supply and demand” is a fundamental economic concept and it applies as much to exercise and nutrition as it does to business. Is your body consistently getting enough challenging physical activity and the right kind of nutrients needed in order to produce the “output” you expect?

You need to know what works and what doesn’t the same way a smart business person must know what works to make their business successful. Armed with that information you can make an informed intelligent decisions about what whether your diet and fitness routine is actually good for you and working for you. You can also perform a “gap analysis” using the data you collect in order to discover the discrepancies between your health objectives and your actual lifestyle.

Health and fitness are a lot like a business and the smart business person does not work “harder” they work “smarter.”

No one will ever care as much as you do about your own health, vitality, and well-being. Remember, it is far easier to keep good health than try and recover it after it is lost. Make this your motto and remind yourself of this fact every day.

Focus on living up to your full potential to optimize your health and wellness regardless of age…rather than trying to run from the inevitable disease.
